SALEM, OR – Today, Representative Christine Goodwin (R-Canyonville) announced the bills she will introduce in the upcoming 35-day regular session beginning on February 5th. In a short session, each legislator may introduce a total of 2 bills.
- HB 4055 – Raises the threshold for the corporate activity tax (CAT) to $5 million
“At every turn, Democrats have passed bills making it more difficult to run a successful business. Raising the CAT threshold will bring down costs for thousands of small business owners and their consumers,” said Goodwin. - HB 4054 – Bans biological males from competing in female sports
“The modern left expects us to go along with the false reality that a man who thinks he’s a woman has no biological advantage over women. Allowing boys to compete in physical sports with women is both dangerous and wrong, and the ideology behind it is fundamentally anti-woman,” concluded Goodwin.
Just last week, a high school girls tennis coach in Canby resigned his position, protesting “boys playing girls tennis”. The coach wrote: “It was not an easy decision to make. I love coaching and have enjoyed every moment of working with these girls. But I can no longer stand by and watch as their dreams are shattered, and their opportunities are taken from them. I can no longer stand by silently while all the work that was put into Title IX is disregarded. I cannot support policies that put the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health of women at risk.”
